Haikumuse | Fall 2007

Madeleine Findlay

condensation
the day after Thanksgiving
kitchen windows

crack of dawn
through the tree-climbing ivy
fall color

autumn stroll
where the beach becomes the dunes
dead gull

either way
the uneven days of Fall
are finely tuned

easy
in the autumn breeze
wildflowers

in a red beret
an old woman makes change --
u-pick apples

autumn woods --
the yellow shafted flicker
takes the light

left to stand
the winter long --
roof ladder

Tom D'Evelyn

the familiar smell
of my father’s mums—
fog on the river

crystalline
cold, earsplitting
crow

happiness-
the autumn river
is like a pond

autumn morning—
in different spots
that cormorant

night fog—
behind the cigarette
there must be a face

Labor Day—
all tied up, the tugs
rub each other

slow day—
over there, across the river,
patches of fog

the handrailing
down to the summer deck
slick with dew
